The Easter Bunny hopped by my place this morning too ;-). I wish you all a Happy Easter. At the same time, thank you to everyone who „gifted“ me with good wishes and thought of me.
The Hintermoos Racing Group
The most amazing surprise came shortly before the holidays from my old ski buddy Johannes from Düsseldorf, with whom I used to tear up the mountains in and around Maria Alm during our „youth.“ Our ski school racing group, where the same people met year after year, was legendary: „We did crazy things. Literally every little bump served as a jump. Whenever we could, we jumped,“ writes Johannes, who is now a trained ski instructor.
He wrote me a 12-page letter about his experiences from last winter vacation with his family in January and sent me pictures. My parents successively transcribed them for me onto large A3 sheets, which I can read at the moment. Tendency: Much is the same – some things are different.
The good old ski school, now under new management, was also attended by his kids. And there were the same rituals we already loved, like the final race. Well, and the beautiful souvenir photos from Foto Jelinek, which my parents still have saved somewhere. Thanks Johannes, for giving me these beautiful memories.
The ice hockey fanatics
And we of course shared another hobby: ice hockey. Johannes was a fan of DEG, I was a fan of the Mannheim Eagles. At some point, we then went hurtling down the slopes in our ski suits with our teams' big ice hockey shirts – that was cool. And we were known on the slopes... ;-).
